Jane is a Gutsy Gal. She had a dream. And when obstacles were presented, she moved through them, realizing—in hindsight—that they were simply chapters in the book of her life.
“We don’t hire women to cover baseball” was the response Jane—a diehard NY Yankees fan—heard repeatedly when applying for a job in sports journalism after graduating from college. She didn’t give up; she just put her dream on hold. She entered the world of book publishing, climbing the ladder and eventually becoming the first (and youngest) female VP at Putnam. Yes, roadblocks can be opportunities.
In 1994, she wrote her first novel, Cha Cha Cha… and subsequently became a bestselling author, turning out 13 novels in as many years.
In 2007, she wrote a New York Times article about the Yankees that created a sensation and evolved into her first nonfiction book,Confessions of a She-Fan: The Course of True Love with the New York Yankees. Now she’s a sportswriter at last - after 30 years of so-called “waiting.”
