Sure you’ve heard of Rodin (The Thinker) and Picasso, but have you heard of Louise Peterson? How many of us can claim that rendering fine, classical sculptures of Great Danes on a mountain in a remote location of Colorado would be our dream? It is for Louise, who was born in England and trained as a classical ballet dancer. She states enthusiastically, “I’m living my dream.” In true gutsy gals fashion, her career journey has been eclectic: she has morphed from ballet dancer to massage therapist to award-winning (over 100 and counting!) animal sculptor. The common thread? She was open to the possibilities that presented themselves in her life and was willing to pursue them. Is there a market for her animal sculptures? You bet. Her pieces range from $150 to $20,000 (and above), and for 10 years, she’s been sustaining off of her art and has kept plenty busy while the economy has been doing what it’s doing. Louise is an inspiration to us all desiring success and financial freedom. One of her secrets? “Don’t create something just to sell something. Create something that you are passionate about and really get behind it.” To learn more and see images of her work, that includes jewelry, visit Louise’s website.
